On October 3 (German Unity Day), we had a one-day layover in Hamburg, putting us in the city from approximately 8 am until 6 am the next morning.

Our time included a round-trip public ferry ride on the harbor and a lot of walking, primarily in the Altstadt, some areas of Neustadt, around the Binnenalster, and in Hafen City.

As this was a public holiday, most stores were closed, and many families were out enjoying the sunny warm weather.
