We took a day trip to Cres Island from Rovinj. The island is accessible from Brestova, which is across the Istrian peninsula from Rovinj--about an hour's drive. It is a long, narrow island with a rather high elevation along the middle and some dramatic rocky scenery. We only had about 5-6 hours, part of which was taken up by a terrific lunch at Bukaleta in the VERY small hamlet of Loznati. Still, this trip was well worth the effort, and worthy of much more time than we had.
